flying hammock hits pedestrian in the head

A person walking on the sidewalk in Lower Manhattan was hit in the head by a hammock that plunged from a rooftop above, police say.

It happened as the victim was walking on Church Street and Park Place at about 5 p.m., according to police.

It appears the hammock flew off the roof of a building and hit the pedestrian in the head.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, and is listed in serious but stable condition.
