EL AL Flight LY008 experienced technical problems that caused an emergency landing. Some passengers say they heard loud noises from the engine but El AL says that info was not true. The plane landed safely in the Goose Bay air force base in Newfoundland.

The company said in a statement that it is “working to fix the problem and to take care of the passengers.”
Twitter user Tom Podolec tweeted that EL AL plane from New York to Tel Aviv declared Mayday for a wheel well fire indication and diverted and Landed safely.
U/D 3PM (EST) El AL sent a replacement plane from JFK airport on Sunday morning at 11:40 AM EST. Flight #1008 arrived in Goose Bay at 2:45 PM.
Airport official tells GifterInGotham that it will take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours to transfer passengers, luggage and get everyone on it’s way to Israel.
