Cyclist struck By Truck in Boro Park Dies

Brooklyn   On Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at 5:30 PM, Hatzolah, NYPD and FDNY EMS responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a bicyclist on 17th Avenue and 47th Street in the confines of the 66th Precinct. Upon arrival, Hatzolah and officers observed a 26-year-old male lying on the roadway with severe trauma about the body. Hatzolah worked feverishly to save cyclist on location and transported the male to Maimonides Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

An investigation by the NYPD Highway Unit’s Collision Investigation Squad determined a 29-year-old operator of a 2017 Hino box truck was traveling northbound on 47th street approaching the intersection of 17th Avenue. The

The 26-year-old bicyclist was two days shy of his birthday was also traveling northbound on 47th Street on the right side of the roadway. As the box truck was passing the bicyclist, the bicyclist fell into the side of the truck and was struck by the passenger side rear tires. The operator of the truck remained on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
