Manhattan A driver trying to park his vehicle slammed into pedestrians after hitting the gas pedal instead of the brake according to NYPD. 1 pedestrian is dead and 6 seriously injured. (7:10 PM)
7:45 PM (1010wins) One person is dead and at least six others hospitalized with injuries after they were struck by a minivan that mounted a curb Thursday night in Chinatown, officials said.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Canal and Forsyth Streets shortly before 7 p.m.
According to police, the incident happened after a man was attempting to park his minivan. The vehicle went into reverse and struck a fruit stand, hitting the seven individuals.
Two of the injured are in serious condition with life-threatening injuries; two others are in serious condition with non-life-threatening injuries, and 2 have minor injuries.
The driver remained at the scene.
The investigation is continuing, and no arrests have been made.
